Elswood Bowmen is an archery club based in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
Our members shoot most types of bow, including recurve, barebow, compound, longbow and other traditional styles.
Already a member of Archery GB? Join Elswood for 2024/25 and we’ll give you club membership for the remainder of this season for free!
Guests are welcome to any of our sessions except league matches and championships. You must remember to bring your Archery GB card and there is a £5 fee.

Elswood has a vibrant junior section who shoot alongside seniors at all meetings.

Long history

Elswood Bowmen is one of the oldest clubs in Hertfordshire being founded in 1958 by Guy and Marjorie Ely. It originally covered Elstree & Borehamwood, but is now based in
St. Albans with members from a wide area.

What’s your bow style?

Recurve, used in the Olympics and the most common style
Compound, very accurate and used in the Paralympics
Barebow, like recurve but without sights or most of the weights
Longbow, for those budding Robin Hoods
Asiatic horse bows, becoming more popular
